Garrett McKay is an assistant professor of environmental engineering in the Zachry Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at Texas A&M University. His research focuses on focuses on the intersection of chemistry, contaminant remediation, and biogeochemical processes. His group applies mass spectrometry, steady-state and time-resolved spectroscopic methods, and photochemical experiments to address fundamental and applied problems in environmental engineering and science. Garrett is the recipient of an NSF CAREER award, Early Career Program grant from the Army Research Office, and the James J. Morgan Early Career Award (honorable mention). His formal training includes a PhD in environmental engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder, BA and MS degrees in chemistry from California State University Long Beach, and postdoctoral training at the Colorado School of Mines. Outside of work, Garrett enjoys spending time with his wife Lauren and two sons. In his diminishing free time, Garrett enjoys golf, racquetball, running, and (when not in Texas) downhill skiing.
